New York Haiti Project

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Matel, Haiti

Our displays about L’Ecole Saint-Luc in Matel, Haiti

St. James’ began their support of the New York Haiti Project in 2017 and fortunately has been able to continue this mission not only with financial donations but with sharing the love of the work being done with the congregation through informative displays, discussions as well as activities in Sunday School. In 2021, St. James’ made three donations to the New York Haiti Project totaling over $5,100 to help the children and families of Matel, Haiti. Specifically, the money went to pay teachers’ salaries and to provide earthquake relief.

“The money you give is only part of what makes St. James’ Hyde Park such a valuable partner.  The way that you have integrated our mission work into the life of the parish has inspired other parishes in our diocese to do the same.  Your regular prayers for the people of Matel mean more than you know” — excerpt from a thank you note from the Rev. Sam Owen of the New York Haiti Project.
